Some people pay thousands and thousands for sites that are weak in design and structure. Some people avoid paying a few hundred dollars for a well designed quality site. Money matters, but not as much as perception. If you are generally pessimistic or skeptical, you’ll avoid the risk of spending money on what could be a bust. If you think a website will make the difference, you’ll pay, maybe even more than it’s worth. If you know a local restaurant serves great food, you’ll pay top dollar. Why is it then that our commitment to quality websites is less …picky?
I am amazed by the number of website programs available on ebay. Just buy a site or an internet program and get rich. Don’t believe them, believe us, their program is rubbish, ours is like manna from heaven. People are obviously buying these sites and programs, but why? The promises of what they offer most likely. A chance to be financially independent, to make extra money, or just to try something new can sometimes overcome skepticism, and certainly entice the hopeful webpreneur.
I think these programs could work, just like anything else, with a lot of hard work, quite a bit of resources, and little bit of luck. Generally these programs offer sites or programs that sell products. Great, but how do you get people to the site? You have to promote the site. That takes time, money, and effort. I wish everyone knew what it took. Maybe I should sell the knowledge on ebay.
The opposite problem is the people who are so reluctant they won’t ever actually pursue their web dreams. With a realistic goal, reasonable understanding of hat it takes to succeed, and some positive effort, it’s not unreasonable to create a webcentered income. It takes time, resources, and effort.
